Use Quick AR to create an image recognition AR experience, quickly and easily. Snap a photo or upload a target image (or a ready-made .mind file) and your media. Optionally adjust the scale and position of the media, and add tap interactions. Export as a ZIP when finished, ready to upload to your own web site.
Drag sliders to adjust media size and placement.
Please allow camera access.
How to prepare your files
This tool recognizes physical patterns and 'pins' digital content to them in real-time using your device's camera.
Creating an AR experience with this tool requires two things: an image to be recognised (as a .mind file), and the media to be displayed when the user points their device's camera at a matching source.
The target:
The thing to be recognised could be a magazine cover, a drinks can, a painting, even an anamorphic graphic (as long as there's enough unique detail). Experiment!
You can snap and upload a photo directly, but it is better to upload a pre-cropped a photo of the target that includes only the thing itself. It is important to avoid stray details outside of the target area.
The media:
- Upload a target image (choose from your photos library, snap a new image, or upload a .mind file)
- Then upload an image, video or 3D .glb model
- Start previewing!
Fine-tuning media display
3D models are often scaled inappropriately in the original files, so there is a Scale slider to manage this. You can also adjust the model's X/Y position and also its rotation around the X and Y axes. These controls are also available for managing the appearance of images and video files.
Adding interaction
As well as simply displaying some media when a target is recognised, you can also add tap interactions to the media items themselves. The Tap Interactions menu options are:
- None (the classic behaviour; just show the media)
- Open a Web Link (any regular URL; include the http/s etc. protocol)
- Play/Pause Media (specifically for videos)
- Custom JavaScript if you want to add greater levels of customised interaction to your production.
Saving your AR creation
When your AR creation is working as you want you can download the complete HTML and media assets for using this in your own site.
Instructions will come soon for how to view these locally on your own Mac or PC, but for now standard browser security limits mean they can't be used from your own computer without running a local web server.
